Positioning platform |

|
ETS are utilizing the GSM operators network to find the position of a unit.
The position of a GSM unit is based upon which base station it communicates with. The GSM provider knows the coverage area of each base station, and the angel of the antenna. This gives the sector information ETS displays in the maps.
We also measure the time the signal travels from the base station and the unit to get the distance. This gives us an indication of how far from the base station the unit is.
By combining the distance and sector, we get a macro location. This macro location varies in size from 200 meters in cities and up to 1.5 km in rural areas.
Based on this macro location, we can send a tracking team to the correct area. Using RF tracking, the team can locate the unit down to <1 meter.
Our system is currently supporting GSM positioning
